Dean Arts Studio

The Dean Art Studio is a new, multi-disciplinary artistic hub located on Chatham Row, in the heart of Dublin city centre.

Both established and emerging practitioners across visual arts, literature, photography, sound, music, art curation and more are in residency in what previously housed the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama. It is envisaged that more than 30 artists, cultural institutions and arts organisations will benefit from the Studio, which will be wholly funded by The Dean Dublin and Press Up Hospitality Group for the benefit of the artistic community.

Supporting Ireland's Creative Community

This cultural initiative is an investment in Ireland’s creative community and responds to the contraction of accessible city workspaces for artists and arts organisations. The Dean Dublin and Press Up Hospitality Group recognise the difficulties faced by artists in securing affordable studio in Dublin city centre, due in part to the loss of cultural spaces through development. The Dean Arts Studio is a practical response to these challenges, and over 20 studio and workspaces will be gifted to artists, and to Irish cultural institutions and arts organisations, to be awarded to their chosen recipients.

What to expect from the Dean Arts Studio?

The Dean Arts Studio will play host to regular exhibitions and a series of live and streamed events from our incredible residents and friends. Follow us on Instagram to be kept up to date with information on any upcoming events.

The Dean Arts Studio Development Programme will kick off in 2022 with a curated series of events that will support the professional development of artists, nurturing business skills in tandem with artistic practices, ensuring that artists are better equipped to progress a viable, self-sustaining career in the arts on completion of their residency.

Art at The Dean

The Dean Arts Studio is the next phase in The Dean’s Arts Strategy, which commenced in 2014 with the launch of The Dean Dublin and the purchase and display of more than 100 Irish artworks. Since then, The Dean has aimed to support both established and emerging Irish visual artists by purchasing and showcasing their works, most recently with the curation of 440 Irish works for the Dean Cork.

The Dean is the official hospitality partner of the Irish Museum of Modern Art, a partnership that was awarded ‘Best Mid-Size Sponsorship’ at the 2017 Business to Arts Awards.
