Galway International Arts Festival In Association With The Dean Galway
Galway’s first ever design-led boutique space, The Dean Galway is delighted to announce its continued support of Galway International Arts Festivals‘ Festival Gallery.
Following on from its sponsorship of the Festival Gallery in 2022, The Dean Galway will once again sponsor the Gallery in 2023.
The Festival Gallery returns to the GIAF line up at William Street, Galway, where they have commissioned the Turner Prize-nominated artist, David Mach, to create a new site-specific installation The Oligarch’s Nightmare, a maquette of which is pictured above.
The Festival Gallery is a temporary gallery space constructed by Galway International Arts Festival. The Festival often employs a strategy of converting unique disused buildings into stunning exhibition spaces. The Festival Gallery is located on William Street. The entrance is just behind the bronze sculptures of Oscar Wilde and Eduard Vilde and is between Premoli shoe shop and Matt O’Flaherty’s chemist.
A note from The Dean Galway GM, Cian O’ Broin and John Crumlish, CEO of GIAF..
Cian O’Broin, General Manager of The Dean Galway notes “Art is a huge focus at The Dean Galway, there are stunning pieces from local artists Shane O’Malley, Joan Finnegan and Tory Irvine to name a few on view throughout the hotel. Each guest bedroom also has a unique piece of Irish artwork selected to match the light and style of each room. Given our strong alignment to the arts and the strong contribution that GIAF brings to Galway City, The Dean Galway is proud to support this year’s Festival Gallery.”
John Crumlish, CEO, Galway International Arts Festival said: “The Press-Up group have developed a strong connection with the visual arts in Ireland and we are delighted that this connection has now been extended to include the Festival. The Festival Gallery is a hugely important venue for GIAF and forms a key part of its free programme. The Dean Galway partnership helps make that programme possible.”
